Earth Observation Research

JAXA Earth Observation Research Center (EORC) conducts the Earth science research and application research using the data acquired by Earth observation satellites. We promote the development of analysis methods to lead meaningful physical variables for the Earth science and calibration/validation to secure the quality of satellite data. Research and development of combined product using multiple satellite data is also being carried out in collaboration with universities, research institutions and foreign researchers.

We also promote application research of satellite data in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, disaster management, land use, infrastructure management and so on. EORC will contribute to realization of a society that is resilient to climate change and disasters by elucidating various aspects of the Earth.

Research Project

The Earth science research and application research using the data acquired by Earth observation satellites and calibration/validation of satellite data are carried out in each research project that specializes in each satellite and sensor.

Research field

Earth observation satellites are observing various aspects of the earth in the area of atmosphere, ocean and land.
