Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) is an earth observation satellite mission that Japan and Europe are collaborating for development. It is expected that the mission will improve the numerical climate model and contribute to improving the accuracy of climate change prediction, by monitoring the distribution and vertical structure of clouds and aerosols, and radiation balance energy at the upper end of the atmosphere globally, by using four observation sensors (cloud profiling radar, atmospheric lidar, multi-spectral imager and broadband radiometer) onboard the satellite.
