Soil Moisture

Overview

JAXA is releasing the data of soil moisture content around the land surface etc. observed by the Global Change Observation Mission – Water “SHIZUKU” (GCOM-W). The data indicates the condition that moisture fallen as rain is stored on soil or drying condition of soil.

The data on soil moisture is utilized in the fields of food security and agriculture (ex. yield forecast) and for the risk assessment of flood and forest fire occurrence.
