Overview
JAXA is releasing the data of snow, glacier and ice sheet conditions observed by the Global Change Observation Mission – Water “SHIZUKU” (GCOM-W), the Global Change Observation Mission – Climate “SHIKISAI” (GCOM-C), etc. In accordance with global warming, glacial lakes in the Himalayan region have increasing risk of bursting and causing flood. The condition of snow cover is utilized as important data from the viewpoint of global warming and disaster prevention.
