Sea Surface Wind speed
Overview
Sea surface condition (ex. how the waves rises, etc.) is observed by microwave radiometer onboard the Global Change Observation Mission – Water “SHIZUKU” (GCOM-W), etc. and sea surface wind speed can be estimated. In addition, All Weather Ocean Wind Speed has an advantage of calculating sea surface wind speed even in bad weather conditions such as typhoons and low pressure, since it uses low-frequency band which is less affected by rain and could. We are proceeding the research on estimation of sea surface wind speed at the coast and under the typhoon condition by using PALSAR-2 onboard ALOS-2.
