The Recovery Observatory (RO) is a key activity of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) Working Group on Disasters, aiming to provide satellite-maps and information for disaster recovery. It was set up as a pilot in December 2016 to support the monitoring of recovery and rehabilitation in the areas of southwest Haiti affected by hurricane Matthew.<\/p>\n

Through time, the RO evolved to a generic and scalable CEOS activity ready to support other events by replicating the efforts initially seen for hurricane Matthew.<\/p>\n

From 2020 to 2023, the RO Demo activity, led by the French Space Agency-CNES and the World Bank\/GFDRR (Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery), was activated for 5 events by Tripartite Agreement partners:<\/p>\n
