[Quick Report] Global average of sea surface temperature continues to hit the record high of the AMSR series observation period

The global monthly average of sea surface temperature in February 2024 reached the record high of the AMSR series observation period.
Such anomalously warm conditions have continued almost one year since March 2023.
JAXA will continue monitoring oceanic variations (AMSR Earth Environment Viewer).

Spatial map of sea surface temperature anomaly in February 2024 from the AMSR series observations.

(Added on April 26, 2024)
The figure has been replaced by a new one due to a problem with processing of anomalies in the AMSR viewer.

(Added on April 26, 2024)
The figure has been replaced by a new one because the areal distortion due to the map projection was considered in the averaging process.
